      Module outline

      Engage with this vital topic through an exploration shaped by the enquiry question: How can we own and achieve a sustainable approach to well-being?

       

      Each component, presented as a video, enables you pause and revisit your learning as and when you want. We invite you to share your thoughts, ideas and beliefs with others undertaking this module through our Cymbrogi Companions Network

      What will you achieve?

      Module outline

      In this module we will use hard science to discover what it means to be well, with practices that can help us cultivate our own well-being straight away. This module will enable you to reflect on what well-being is and how we can work towards a more sustainable approach to your own well-being. We will explore an integrated understanding of how we work, in order to be experts of our own well-being.

       

      This module has been designed as the first stage in a four part process of Understand - Explore - Materialise - Reflect.

       

      Stage Two, Explore (Available in early Spring 2021), provides a hands on opportunity to develop and practice owning your well-being and helping others to do the same.

      A range of Electives have been developed to provide you with additional opportunities to go deeper into the concepts and content covered within the Module.

      This Module is one of four online modules which form Stage 1 (Understand) of the Cymbrogi Companions Learning Journey.

      Elective Mini-Modules

      On completion of this Module you will gain access to the following elective mini-modules:

      Somatic Stress Relief

      This elective enables you to access usable body based practices to build resilience and re-set stress.

      What underpins the thinking for the AoLE for Health and Wellbeing for the Curriculum for Wales - by Nanna Ryder

      This elective explores the purpose and process of the Health and Well-being AOLE as part of the development and deployment of the new Curriculum for Wales.

      Well-being in action

      This elective enables you to engage with practices to enhance your approach to managing your well-being and helping others manage theirs.

      The pursuit of happiness: What do we mean by well-being for young learners? - by Carys Jennings

      An exploration of well-being as part of a deliberate approach to classroom practice.

      Well-being: Theory & Practice - by Geoff Cresswell.

      This elective challenges you to take your understanding of well-being further. Geoff invites you to engage with the theory and practice of well-being to develop a deeper understanding. He also introduces you to APPLE approach.

      Who will you learn with?

      Shaun Brooking​, is a qualified sports scientist with an honours degree in human performance, specialising in a whole body, whole person approach to health and wellbeing. Drawing upon 12 years of knowledge and experience in movement coaching, injury rehabilitation and embodied learning, Shaun works as a Movement Coach and Somatic Facilitator. He helps his clients redefine wellbeing beyond the physical body, including mental, emotional and relational wellbeing. His philosophy holds that we can make changes to ourselves and our bodies for the better, at any stage of our lives. We don’t have to settle for 'this is just the way it is.’ Shaun makes the critical connection between mind and body, and with this, empowers others to get unstuck, recover from injury and increase their energy and vitality. His ultimate hope is for people to move with ease, think clearly and perform optimally in an ever changing world, with minimal sacrifice to their overall health.
